Zero Air

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Zero Air is defined as atmospheric air that has been cleaned to have less than than 0.1 ppm total hydrocarbons remaining.[1] Atmospheric air is purified by Zero Air Generators which contain a variety of scrubbers to remove hydrocarbons. Many Zero Air Generators also remove other impurities or gases, depending on the ultimate use of the air. For example, systems may remove water vapor, particulates, Sulfur dioxide (SO2), Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), Nitric oxide (NO), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Ozone (O3) and Carbon monoxide (CO) in addition to Hydrocarbons.

Some common uses of Zero Air include use as a zero reference calibration gas, ultra-pure combustion air for flame ionization detector, and service air for pneumatically operated valves.
