Yield strength

When a ductile metal or alloy is stressed beyond a certain point (the yield stress or elastic limit), it deforms plastically. The yield strength may be determined, during a tensile test, by dividing the load at the yield point by the original cross-sectional area of the test specimen. ^[1]
