A vacuum pump is a device used to remove air from a contained space. It is available in two models: a compressed-air pump and an electromechanical pump.
- Compressed air pumps, also called generators, force compressed air through a nozzle, creating a vacuum when it reacts with high-pressure outside air.
- Electromechanical pumps are commonly found in the rotary-vane model. These pumps use a rotor and vanes to trap air and force it through a pump, creating a partial vacuum.[1]
