Spatter
From GAWDAwiki
Spatter is the metal particles blown away from the welding arc. These particles do not become part of the completed weld.[1] The level of spatter can be altered in a number of ways, including altering the shielding gas being used. Fine adjustments can be made in the ratio of gases using a gas mixer to find the best combination of characteristics for a given set of circumstances.
