Size of weld

Size of weld applies to groove welds, equal leg fillet welds, unequal leg fillet welds and flange welds.
In groove welds, it's the joint penetration (depth of chamfering plus the root penetration when specified).
In equal leg fillet welds, it's the leg length of the largest isosceles right triangle which can be inscribed within the fillet weld cross section.
In unequal leg fillet welds, it's the leg length of the largest right triangle which can be inscribed within the fillet weld cross section.
In flange welds, it's the weld metal thickness measured at the root of weld.[1]
