A gas diffuser is the device inside the welding gun that shielding gas flows through. [1]
Also called a retaining head, this component forms the connection between the nozzle and the neck in a MIG gun. It holds the contact tip in place and provides the surface area necessary to carry electrical current to the contact tip to produce an arc. [2]
