Plasma arc cutting

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Plasma arc cutting is an arc cutting process which severs metal by using a constricted arc to melt a small area of the work. This process can cut all metals that conduct electricity. Consumables: torch consumables, gas or compressed air supply.[1]

Plasma cutting is the result of introducing an electrical arc through an inert gas blown through a nozzle at high pressure, causing the gas to turn into plasma (ionized gas) and producing a focused flame that can reach temperatures of 50,000°F.[2]
