Phosphine (PH3) is a colorless, flammable, and toxic gas with an odor of garlic or decaying fish. It can ignite spontaneously on contact with air. The gas is shipped as a liquefied, compressed gas.[1]

Phosphine is pyrophoric and is a very toxic gas with a TLV of 0.3ppm. Phosphine is combustible in the range of 1.2-98% and has a decaying fish like odor. Phosphine is used as a dopant gas during CVD and as an dopant source for ion implant.[2]
