Oxidizing flame

An oxidizing flame is an oxyacetylene flame in which there is an excess of oxygen. The unburned excess tends to oxidize the weld metal.[1]
An oxyfuel gas flame in which there is an excess of oxygen, resulting in an oxygen-rich zone extending around and beyond the core. See also neutral flame.[2]
