Lift-check valve

A lift-check valve is a type of check valve in which the higher pressure of upstream fluid can lift the disc off its seat to allow flow to the downstream side. This disc is often referred to as a "lift." A guide is used to ensure that the disc moves in a vertical line so it can reseat properly. Once pressure subsides, either gravity or downstream pressure will return the disc to its seat, shutting the valve.^[1]
