Krypton is a rare gas, which, along with xenon and neon, accounts for one thousandth of the air in the atmosphere. It is a colorless, tasteless gas that cannot support life. Krypton is difficult to combine with other chemical substances because of its extreme intertness.[1]

Krypton gas is used in lasers to provide desired optic wavelengths for various applications. When used in lasers, krypton is mixed with a halogen, most commonly fluorine, to produce the desired characteristics. These lasers are called excimer lasers.[2]
