What is GAWDAwiki?

GAWDAwiki is a wiki for the gases and welding industry. A wiki is a collection of web pages to which anyone may contribute or modify. The term "wiki" is a Hawaiian word meaning "quickly." For more information, read the "About" page.

How do I join?

Joining GAWDAwiki is simple. Just click the log in/create account button found in the upper righthand corner of your screen or use the form provided on the main page. How do I find a term?

There are two basic ways to find a term in GAWDAwiki. The first is to use the "search box" located on the lefthand tool bar. Type in the term you are looking for. If the term exists, its page will pop up. If not, a list of pages similar to that page will appear. Note: The search bar does not account for misspellings, so be sure to watch your typing!

The second way to find a term is to look through GAWDAwiki's index of terms. Search for a particular term using the search bar at the top of the page or type in a letter to look through an alphabetical list of terms beginning with that letter.

What if my term isn't there?

The beauty of a wiki is that if you can't find the term you're looking for, you can add it! To add a term, simply type the term in the search box on the lefthand tool bar and press "Go." If the term already exists, you will be brought to its page. If not, you are free to create it. Simply click the "Add This Term" button (seen below) to add your term.

(Note: this button is just for display and does not go anywhere)

Enter your definition or explanation for the term in the box that appears and click "Save Page" at the bottom of the page. Your term has now been added to GAWDAwiki.

How do I edit an existing page?

You must be logged in to edit a page.

To edit an existing page use the "Edit" tab found at the top of the page. You can edit a section of a page by clicking the "edit" link at the top of the section. A page will appear with a text box and the wiki code for the page. Make whatever changes to the text you would like and then click "Save page" at the bottom of the page.

How do I add a reference?

References can be added in one of two ways. The easiest way is to let the GAWDAwiki editors do it for you. After adding a new page or editing an existing page, simply include your name, company and Web site after your text. Within one (1) business day, GAWDAwiki's editors will add you as a reference for the posted information.

The second (more complicated) way is to do it yourself. To learn how to add a reference yourself, view Help: References.
