In a MIG gun, the gooseneck (or neck) comprises the portion between the handle and nozzle, and is the component through which the liner feeds the welding wire. In a water-cooled MIG gun, it also houses the water lines that are responsible for cooling the nozzle and other front-end consumables. Goosenecks are insulated to protect the welding operator, add impact protection and dissipate heat. They are typically available in different lengths and angles. [1]
