Gas mixture

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

A gas mixture is a combination of two or more gases. Mixtures of gases are common in many applications, including SCUBA gases diving and welding shield gas. The most common example is air, mainly consisting of nitrogen, oxygen and water vapor (moist air). Combustion gas, mainly consisting of nitrogen, water vapor and carbon dioxide, is another example. Special care must be taken for gas mixtures when using the ideal gas law, calculating the mass, the individual gas constant or the density.[1] Using a gas mixer, accurate gas mixtures are generated for use as precise gas calibration standards, to create gaseous atmospheres or for analytical research or production purposes.
