Gas booster

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Gas boosters are used to boost low pressure gas/air from a gas cylinder to a higher pressure required at the process or test station. Most industrial gases (nitrogen, helium, hydrogen, argon, etc.) are delivered under pressure between 2,000 and 2,600 psi in steel cylinders. If the gas is to be used at low pressures (like in welding), the pressurized supply can be piped and controlled with valves. However, if the gas must be pressurized, the supply cylinder pressure cannot be utilized after it has fallen to the level of the end-use pressure. Therefore, the remaining gas needs to be boosted.[1]
