Gas blending
From GAWDAwiki
Gas blending is the mixing of two or more individual gases to produce a precise, heterogeneous gas mixture. More common mixtures consist of 2 to 3 gases, but some gas mixers are capable of mixing up to 8 component gases. Gas blending is used when diving cylinders are filled with gas mixes such as nitrox or trimix.[1] In welding applications, gas blending is used to create shielding gases [2].
Possible Gas Blending Components:
- 2 or more gases are blended together
- High level of accuracy and consistency
- Audio and/or visual alarms for specific fault conditions
- Explosion proof
- Intrinsically safe
- Pneumatic blender controls require no external power and operate off gas pressure - Diving Applications
- Weatherproof - suitable for outside installation
- Lockable enclosure
- Designed for NFPA/ANSI/ASME code compliance - Diving Applications
Benefits:
- Cost savings and convenience
- Highly level of control and the ability to fine tune gas ratios
- Optimize any process through the use of two or more part gas mixture
- Replace mixed gas cylinders in regular production work
- Constant mix even when the gas flow demands vary throughout operation[2]
