Gas blending

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Gas blending is the mixing of two or more individual gases to produce a precise, heterogeneous gas mixture. More common mixtures consist of 2 to 3 gases, but some gas mixers are capable of mixing up to 8 component gases. Gas blending is used when diving cylinders are filled with gas mixes such as nitrox or trimix.[1] In welding applications, gas blending is used to create shielding gases [2].

Possible Gas Blending Components:

  1. 2 or more gases are blended together
  2. High level of accuracy and consistency
  3. Audio and/or visual alarms for specific fault conditions
  4. Explosion proof
  5. Intrinsically safe
  6. Pneumatic blender controls require no external power and operate off gas pressure - Diving Applications
  7. Weatherproof - suitable for outside installation
  8. Lockable enclosure
  9. Designed for NFPA/ANSI/ASME code compliance - Diving Applications

Benefits:

  1. Cost savings and convenience
  2. Highly level of control and the ability to fine tune gas ratios
  3. Optimize any process through the use of two or more part gas mixture
  4. Replace mixed gas cylinders in regular production work
  5. Constant mix even when the gas flow demands vary throughout operation[2]
