Diaphragm compressor

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

A diaphragm compressor is used to compress gas and restrict leakage. It differs from a piston compressor in its method of compression and the seals used. Both models utilize pistons with piston rings, but the piston in a diaphragm compressor moves a volume of hydraulic oil. The oil manipulates diaphragms up and down; it is these diaphragms that compress the gas. Because static seals are used instead of dynamic seals, compression is accomplished without gas leakage.[1]
