A Dewar flask, also called a vacuum flask, is a glass vessel that keeps its contents at temperatures higher or lower than the surrounding air. This is accomplished when the space between the walls of a double-walled flask is made into a vacuum, minimizing heat transfer via convection and conduction. The flask’s inner walls are also silvered, which reduces heat transfer via radiation.[1]

A Dewar flask typically holds liquefied gas or helium for scientific experiments.[2]
