Current tip
From GAWDAwiki
A current tip (or contact tip) is the portion of a MIG gun through which the welding wire feeds toward the weld puddle. It is responsible for maintaining the electrical contact needed to create an arc. A slip-in current tip is held in place by the collet nut, and a threaded current tip is held in place by a threaded adapter. Typically, current tips are made of C122 DHP copper and CrZr (Cr-Chromium Zr-Zirconium) copper.[1]
