Bulk storage system
From GAWDAwiki
A bulk storage system is a storage system designed to hold cryogenic liquids. Large volumes of gases are often stored in cryogenic form because a given volume of the cold liquid produces much more gas than would the same original volume of gas. This is because a small amount of cryogenic liquid can produce a large amount of gas, so storage in liquid form is often the more economical option.[1]
The two predominant materials that are used for maintaining the vacuum integrity in the annual space between the inner vessel and outer shell is either perlite or super insulation.[2]
Storage Tanks
Storage tanks used for bulk storage can typically be classified as either a large bulk tank or a smaller dewar.
- Large bulk tanks are highly insulated and may be installed either horizontally or vertically.
- Dewar flasks are smaller insulated tanks. They may be manifolded together to accommodate higher volumes when necessary.[1]
