Backhand welding

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Backhand welding is a welding technique in which the torch’s flame is directed toward the completed weld and precedes the rod in the direction of welding.

Backhand welding has several benefits when used to weld heavier materials, including

  • Faster welding speeds
  • Improved control of the large weld puddle
  • Improved fusion at the root of the weld.[1]

The opposite of backhand welding is forehand welding.
