Amines are chemicals used to remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gases. This happens when liquid amines are introduced to natural gas in a contactor vessel, where they absorb carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. The contaminated amines are then moved to a regenerator, where they are heated to remove the carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. Finally, the regenerated liquid amines are moved back to the contactor vessel where the cycle continues.[1]
