Aluminum alloy

From GAWDAwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Aluminum alloy is a metallic material made from a combination of aluminum and another element, aluminum being the main component.[1]

At extremely high temperatures (200-250°C) aluminum alloys tend to lose some of their strength. However, at subzero temperatures, their strength increases while retaining their ductility, making aluminum an extremely useful low-temperature alloy.[2]

There are over 1,400 individual wrought and cast aluminum alloy compositions and/or heat treatments. The highest purity (99.99% min.) aluminum available commercially in wrought form is Aluminum 1199-0 or Aluminum 1199-H18.[3]
