John Stropki Receives GAWDA Award of Excellence

- 9/11/2012

The Gases and Welding Distributors Association presented the 2012 GAWDA Award of Excellence to John M. Stropki, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lincoln Electric Holdings. The honor was presented to Stropki by 2011-2012 GAWDA President Bryan Keen during the association’s 68th Annual Convention in Colorado Springs, CO. The GAWDA Award of Excellence recognizes excellence in the welding supply and industrial gases industry.

“Throughout his career, John has been a true supporter of the NWSA and GAWDA,” said President Keen. “Every year, he made it part of his schedule to attend the Spring Management Conference and the Annual Convention. Under his guidance, Lincoln Electric has taken the lead in supporting issues that are important to the industry.”

Stropki has been president and CEO of Lincoln since June 2004. He has been with the company full time since 1972, when he joined Lincoln Electric as a sales trainee. He serves on the boards of several business and professional associations, including the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI.

In his presentation of the Award of Excellence, Keen noted that Stropki is set to take on a new role at Lincoln. The company recently announced that Stropki will become executive chairman of the board at Lincoln Electric on December 31, 2012. “John’s role at Lincoln will soon change,” said Keen. “One thing we know won’t change is his support of our industry and our association.”
