AWISCO Gives School a Makeover

- 4/19/2012

In celebration of April’s designation as “National Welding Month”, AWISCO Corp. (Maspeth, NY) is proud to announce that it has participated in GAWDA’s Paint a Vo Tech initiative. AWISCO staffers painted and redecorated the welding classroom at Sussex County Technical School in Sparta, NJ.

The initiative, first announced at GAWDA’s annual convention in October 2011, is designed to attract and recruit new welding students and promote careers in welding. “The Paint a Vo Tech program was an amazing experience for all involved,” says AWISCO President Lloyd Robinson. “The look on the students faces when they saw their ‘new’ welding lab was nothing short of astonishing.”

Sussex County Technical School Welding Instructor Josh Conklin, AWS CWE/CWI, said his students were both “energized and mesmerized” by the fresh, new, classroom and lab. Students remarked that their welds looked as good as the quality welds on the new technical posters. “I cannot thank AWISCO enough for this project,” says Conklin. “It will have a great effect on the educational needs of the students, our future welders of America.”

AWISCO is grateful to its vendor partners who donated materials, curtains, posters and banners, including Miller Electric, Hobart Brothers, Smith Equipment, Kimberly Clark, Revco, ORS-Nasco and Sherwin Williams Paint.
