ITW Explores Acquisitions

Illinois Tool Works Company (ITW), a maker of food-service equipment, said it will acquire companies at a more accelerated rate in 2010 than it has previously. The company added around $1B in revenue to its coffers from acquisitions, and sealed 2 deals in the third quarter of 2009 with revenue of $6M. During the first 3 quarters of the year, ITW purchased 13 companies, with sales totaling $135M. This is down substantially from a purchase of sales worth $1.38B in 2008.
