A fire Wednesday at Scully Welding Supply, in Collingdale, PA, led to a series of explosions that injured three employees. Spectators say the blasts went on for 20 to 30 minutes as tanks exploded every few seconds. The Delaware County Daily Times reports that the fire was started when an individual in the yard kicked over a 5-foot-high tank, igniting a small flame that led to a propane explosion. Emergency responders were able to keep two large, partially filled propane tanks from igniting.
Scully Welding Supply reports that employees returned to work Thursday morning and that the business is operational, but remains temporarily closed. According to authorities, two of the injured employees suffered minor injuries while a third was in critical but stable condition earlier this morning.
