A former bookkeeper who embezzled more than a half million dollars from Colorado Welding Supply will serve 18 months in a prison work-release program and 12 years of intensive probation. Christina Michele Bratcher is also required to repay her former employers $594,298, the amount stolen plus interest. Colorado Welding Supply filed bankruptcy in 2010, forcing one of the former owners to return to work as a long-haul trucker. He told the Colorado Springs Gazette, “It was my dream to open up a welding supply business, and it was doing great until I hired Ms. Bratcher.” The sentence is aimed at allowing Bratcher to begin repaying her debt as soon as possible.
