Henderson, NV – As part of Touro University’s Fourth Annual Assistive Technology Fair, student Pamela Morales created a welding rod gun that can easily be used by those with physical disabilities in the hands.

Morales was inspired to design the gun for her brother, Rick Boyer, whose hand was severed in an automobile accident. Though his hand was reattached, he has a limited range of motion. The gun allows Boyer, a welding teacher at Southeast Career and Technical Academy, to squeeze a large handle that slowly feeds the rod into the weld, as opposed to having to put down his tools and do it manually.
