Soldiers Recover Using Hyperbaric Chambers- 3/1/2010Two soldiers that were causalities of an IED in Iraq have recovered after being prescribed Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. They are both back on active duty. The Iraq War has brought attention to brain injuries and rehabilitation. Federal, state and local budgets are paying for the cost of medical treatments that have failed when it comes to brain injuries. Every year billions of dollars are spent in entitlement, prison, education, and safety net programs that are needed because of the rising number of soldiers with brain injuries. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has been used for the treatment of non-healing wounds and is the only FDA-approved non-hormonal treatment approved to repair and regenerate human tissue. While Tricare and VA reimburse for many uses of HBOT they do not pay for the treatment when it comes to brain injuries. On August 14, 2008 Dr. Hatch presented the first five combat casualties results with the Harch HBOT 1.5TM treatment protocol to the Surgeon General of the Navy. The two airmen were treated with the Harch HBOT 1.5TM treatment protocol in September of 2008 by Colonel James Wright, M.D., at Hurlburt Field in Florida. The careers of both men were saved by the protocol. For $24,000 the treatment healed the two who were to be discharged from the service for their brain injury symptoms. On March 20 Dr. Hatch will present the findings of 20 war veterans who have undergone the protocol at the International Brain Injury Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Eighty percent of those who have been treated with the protocol have been able to return to their former lives. On average they have experienced a 15 point IQ increase, a 37% decrease in post-concussion syndrome symptoms, and a 28% reduction in PTSD, after the first 40 of 80 treatments.
