Sky Oxygen Founder Dies

- 3/2/2012

Vincent J. Cirrincione Sr., 95, was founder of Sky Oxygen in Carnegie, PA. Born in Pittsburgh to parents who immigrated from Sicily, Italy, Mr. Cirrincione spent much of his adult life working in the city’s steel mills. It was there that he developed a specialized expertise in the area of torch and regulator repairs. When his division was shut down, as was common in the 70s steel industry, and with the need for torch and regulator repairs still in demand, he and his wife Gayle seized upon the opportunity to set up their own shop in 1972, forming Vince’s Torch Repair , later renamed Vince’s Gas & Welding Supply.

Over the next dozen years, he brought his sons into the business Dennis and Vincent Jr., and expanded the company’s offerings as customers began asking about more than torch repair. Mr. Cirrincione grew the company from his garage to a 6,000 sq. ft. location in 1986 where the company soon began pumping oxygen and propane. He retired in 1988, passing the business on to his sons. The company is now owned and operated as Sky Oxygen by grandchildren Vince Cirrincione III and Laurie Waller.

Mr. Cirrincione is survived by his wife, Gayle, son Vincent Jr., 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Crafton-Ingram Rotary Club, and was a founding member of the Roman Catholic Church of the Ascension in Ingram, PA.
