Sims Welding Supply Builds New Fill Plant - 7/22/2010
Sims Welding Supply, of Long Beach, CA, completed a new industrial and specialty gas cylinder fill plant working with CryoVation. The facility features upgraded filling systems for gases, fully automated Liquifill filling systems for liquids, and a traversing manifold island that reduces cylinder movement and labor. The new facility will replace a smaller plant in a neighboring town, providing Sims with a larger plant at its corporate headquarters.
Sims Welding Supply President Kelly Sims says the new plant will enable the company to centralize the gas and liquid filling operation, and increase production. “We streamlined all our systems, and we’re now more cost effective,” he says. “One of the upgrades we made is the fast-fill, low-loss liquid fill. We have one client that is huge, and it’s nothing for them to call in the morning and say they need 40 cylinders that day. We can now meet that need.”
