Praxair to Supply Nitrogen to Exxon - 2/9/2010
Industrial gas supplier Praxair said Monday it signed a contract with Exxon Mobil for an enhanced oil recovery project.
No financial terms were provided for the deal that requires Praxair to build, own and operate an air separation unit to supply additional nitrogen for enhanced oil recovery operations at Exxon's Hawkins, Texas gas processing plant site.
The site currently uses Praxair's nitrogen gas to increase the amount of oil recovered by injecting the gas chemical at high pressure into oil-bearing rock. The contract for additional nitrogen will help Exxon recover more oil and natural gas.
