New Airgas ASU

South Bend, IN – Airgas Merchant Gases opened an air separation plant in New Carlisle, Indiana.

Initially announced in 2007, the plant required an investment of over $30 million. With the ability to liquefy 350 tons per day of oxygen, nitrogen and argon, it provides a link in the supply chain for bulk and packaged gases used in industrial, medical, food processing, research and construction applications in the Midwest. A pipeline from the plant supplies I/N Tek and I/N Kote, the major steel processing facilities owned by Mittal Steel USA and Nippon Steel.

With the opening of the plant, more than 20 jobs have been created. The company has about ten trucks operating out of the facility to start with and plans to add five to seven in the next couple of years.
