NASA Cryogenic Telescope- 7/29/2010NASA completed cryogenic testing on mirrors for the James Webb Space telescope at the X-Ray and Cryogenic facility at the administration’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. The process uses cryogenics to shrink the telescope’s mirrors, exposing them to extreme temperatures as cold as -415°F. The mirrors must operate in a cryogenic state to prevent the interference of infrared glow. Read more about the cryogenic telescope testing here.
