Modern Technology Meets Traditional Craft

According to Robert Ferra, owner of Ferra Designs, Inc. (www.FerraDesigns.com), a fine metal fabrication company that specializes in the production of custom-made metal finishes, furniture, artwork and more, keeping close to his industry’s roots is what sets his company apart from other metal fabrication firms.

“On most of our projects we use all of the modern technologies associated with custom metalwork,” says Ferra. “This includes computerized design and water-jet cutting technology to achieve precision bending, CNC bending, and metal bending. But at the end of the day, I am still a blacksmith.”

Ferra calls blacksmithing his first love and is proud, in this modern age, to still be called blacksmith in the traditional sense, using a coal-fired forge in the company’s studio located on the historic Cartwright Farm in Denver, NY.
