Medical Gas Regs Scrutinized

Following a medical gas mishap that seriously injured a teenager last month, the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Board of Lawrence, KS, is taking action. The board is recommending a requirement for the city to verify third-party inspections of medical gas systems have taken place after installation. The proposed regulation would mean the city must receive a copy of the inspection report before it issues a certificate of occupancy to the building. Legislation such as this could spur similar changes in other areas as well.

Although we typically aren’t the company installing the systems, we make every effort to educate our customers on how best to stay compliant. If something goes wrong with the system down the road, the finger of blame is bound to eventually point at the business making the sale, so it’s never a bad idea to go that extra mile. It's good customer service, and it protects both the customer and us.
