MRI Machines Tap Into Power of Xenon

A researcher at Lakehead University has found that the use of polarized xenon gas can produce clearer and brighter MRI images. The polarizer uses the process of hyperpolarization to manipulate the xenon gas atoms to enhance the MRI signal, according to tbnewswatch. The gas could help doctors detect poor airflow in people with lung-related diseases such as asthma.
