The reach of the CGA embraces industrial, medical, and specialty gases in compressed or liquefied form, and a range of gas handling equipment. Upon hearing the news, Mr. Kroll said, “For most of my career, I have worked alongside the CGA, and oftentimes worked with it on several important initiatives. To now serve as its Chairman is an honor and a privilege— especially as the CGA celebrates its centennial.” Kroll will serve as Chairman through April 2013. Since 1913, the Compressed Gas Association has been dedicated to the development and promotion of safety standards and safe practices in the industrial gas industry. More than 110 member companies worldwide work together through the committee system to create technical specifications, safety standards, and training and educational materials; to cooperate with governmental agencies in formulating responsible regulations and standards; and to promote compliance with these regulations and standards in the workplace. The work of the CGA is carried out by committees of volunteers from member companies having expertise in the particular areas targeted. Each of these committees focuses on work item projects through its subcommittees and task forces. These working groups meet regularly at CGA headquarters in Northern Virginia or at other sites around the United States and Canada. CGA's staff provides coordination and technical support.
