Iraqi Construction Workers Complete Welding Training - 2/8/2010
Iraqi civilian construction workers from the Saja Trading Contracting Company based out of Basrah, Iraq, earned their certification from the American Welding Society in a ceremony at the naval base here February 1.
West Construction Company, based in Alaska, trained the construction workers in welding while working on a pier and seawall project at Um Qasr Naval Base then sent their examination weld samples to a certification company in the U.S.
All eight of the construction workers met the stringent standards for fillet welds set by the AWS, earning their certificates. They will continue their employment on the $45M pier and seawall project.
