Monroe County released security footage of the explosion of two hydrogentanks at a hydrogen filling station in Rochester, NY, on August 26. The county says that safety measures on Praxair’s tanks and trailers prevented what could have been a much worse disaster.
Praxair transported the tanks involved in the explosion to its Niagara Falls, NY, facility to investigate the cause of the disaster. New York State Department of Transportation officials required Praxair to empty the tanks of more than 2,500 pounds of compressed gas that remained before the tanks could be transported.
