The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration eliminated expiration dates on hazmat classification approvals, effective September 7. According to the agency, its previous policy, introduced in 2009, had unanticipated effects that barred carriers from transporting hazardous materials after a classification approval reached its expiration.
