Haun Grants Welder's Wish

- 12/22/2010

When the Make-A-Wish Foundation came to Broome-Tioga BOCES Welding Instructor John Shear to help locate a sponsor for welding student William Stadelman’s wish, Shear knew exactly who to ask. After Stadelman, who suffers from brain cancer, became too ill to attend welding classes, Haun Welding Supply (Syracuse, NY) took charge of the project and helped transform the student’s garage into a personal welding shop over the course of 8 months.

Haun Outside Sales Rep John Wilmarth worked with Miller Electric and other supplier partners to secure more than $15,000 worth of welding equipment and accessories. Says Wilmarth, “It was an unusual wish, and I was glad that we could help out.”

Some of the equipment donated or provided at-cost include a Milwaukee chop saw; Victor torch outfit; gases from Haun, including oxygen acetylene mix and argon; an air compressor; grinding wheels; welding gear and PPE, including a welding helmet, welding jacket and gloves; Spectrum 375 plasma cutter; Millermatic 211 welder; Miller arc station; welding clamps; and a Wilton 15” floor drill press.
