Device Conserves Breathing Oxygen - 7/10/2012
A group of students in India have developed an oxygen control device that conserves medical oxygen. Instead of requiring a constant supply of oxygen, the device allows oxygen to flow only during exhale. With an estimated inhale-to-exhale ratio of 1:2 for the average person, the device could conserve oxygen at a rate of nearly 67%.

Oxygen conserving devices, including demand cannula, have been in use with home oxygen patients for over 20 years, so not a new concept. The article does not have enough detail to indicate if they have developed something that is new, different and cost effective for hospitals or home care use.
