Dave Irving Receives GAWDA Award of Excellence

- 9/12/2012

A second 2012 GAWDA Award of Excellence was presented to an individual who exemplifies excellence in serving GAWDA through contributions to the association. This was the second Award of Excellence presented at the Annual Convention of the Gases and Welding Distributors Association, held this week at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.

The 2012 GAWDA Award of Excellence was presented to Dave Irving, who served as GAWDA's Life Insurance Consultant for 52 years. Irving has attended every convention since 1966 and retired from his position as Insurance Consultant in 2011.

Dave's relationship with GAWDA began in 1959, while working for Travelers Insurance Company Employee Benefits. One of his first tasks was to assist then NWSA in the design, marketing and growth of an Association Group Life Insurance Program.

Currently, there are 90 insured companies in the program, including 5,000 insured employees and 4,000 insured families. In accepting the award, Irving said, "It is an honor to have been a part of the NWSA/GAWDA insurance vision." GAWDA members will not forget Irving and his red Travelers' umbrella, followed by his ever-faithful Snoopy dog. Over the years, Irving calculates that 2,115 Snoopys have been given out to GAWDA members.
