A rural school district, a manufacturing industry, a community college and a gases and welding distributor joined together to start a dual credit welding class at Westermeyer Industries in Bluffs, IL, reports the Journal Courier. John Wood Community College contacted rural public schools as part of an outreach program to see how it could bring more education opportunities to junior high and high schools. The result was a welding course implemented for Bluffs School District to offer students education relevant to jobs in the community. ILMO Products Co. donated new welders for the course.
