CGA Hosts Japanese Reps

- 6/3/2009
Chantilly, VA – The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) hosted representatives from the Japan Industrial and Medical Gases Association (JIMGA) and Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp. on May 20, 2009. Representatives met with senior CGA staff, including CGA’s President Marc Meteyer, to share knowledge and expertise on safety and environmental practices.

Discussions focused on standards for the safe delivery of hydrogen and global climate change. Both issues are active in the U.S. and Japan. The delegation was given a tour and fueling demonstration at a Shell/Air Products and Chemicals hydrogen refueling station in Washington, DC. General Motors Corp. also demonstrated a 700 bar refueling of a state-of-the-art fuel-cell-powered SUV.

At the meeting, CGA and JIMGA:
  • Shared information on industry standards and safe practices relative to hydrogen;
  • Exchanged information on the technological advances in the industry and implications to safety;
  • Shared trends and developments surrounding the global climate change issue; and,
  • Further strengthened an existing cooperative relationship.
“A mutual sharing of experience and standards between industrial gas associations strengthens safe practices and helps ensure that they are harmonized to support the global marketplace,” states Meteyer.
