Air Products Launches Hostile Bid - 2/12/2010
Air Products & Chemicals took its $5.1B takeover bid for Airgas directly to shareholders, bypassing Chief Executive Officer Peter McCausland and board members who rejected 3 previous offers.
Airgas investors will receive $60 a share if they tender shares by midnight on April 9, Allentown, Pennsylvania-based Air Products said today in a statement. The bid is 38% higher than Airgas’s closing price prior to February 5, when the offer was made public. Airgas traded as high as $61.74 today.
