Headlines4-Mile LNG Pipe Planned- 6/8/2009The planned pipeline is the result of Weaver's Cove Energy's desire for a LNG farm. The pipeline would solve the problem of ship navigation, as LNG ships would not have to dock at the onshore facility. Ships could stop at a platform miles away and deliver their cargo through the pipeline. Despite criticisms, Weaver President Gordon Shearer maintains that ultra-insulated double-walled "pipe-in-a-pipe" construction means that LNG can be safely moved up to six miles without there being a problem with it beginning to boil off because of thermal radiation or friction-creating heat.
