Air analyzer

Jump to: navigation, search

An air analyzer is used to analyze the air quality in and around employee work areas. It may be used to detect things like flammable vapor conditions (lower explosive limit [LEL]), poisonous hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO) and any oxygen (O2) deficiency (19.5% or below) or enrichment (23.5% or above) in the air.[1]

Air analyzers may be used to test air for a variety of required and optional tests, including for asbestos, gases and other potentially hazardous materials.[2]

Other applications for ambient air analyzers include evaluation of emissions levels for vehicles and stacks in relation to the standards set by the EPA [3][4](/sup). The EPA sets strict guidelines to ensure the air analyzers are properly calibrated and maintained.
